Is fragrance load a percent of the wax or of the total?
Both conventions exist. This guide uses percent of wax weight, the most common one: at 8%, every 16 oz of wax gets about 1.28 oz of fragrance oil.
Does more fragrance oil make a stronger candle?
Not always. Past the wax's limit, extra oil can sweat out of the candle or burn poorly. Curing time and wick choice matter a lot for scent throw too.
